Westborough – “25 Food Drive” is a program created by In Your Shoes: A Giving Circle, a nonprofit organization that helps to keep the Westborough Food Pantry stocked during the summer months. The program is meant to be a simple and fun way to stay connected with friends and neighbors while providing for Westborough families in need.

Silver stars on a lawn stake will be available to interested residents through In Your Shoes. Those wishing to participate in the program will receive a silver star and make a donation to the food pantry by dropping their donation into a clearly marked bin at the Westborough Public Library, 55 W. Main St., or the Fire Station, 42 Milk St. Silver stars mark the 25 years of service provided to those in need by the Westborough Food Pantry.

Once the donation is made, the donor adds their name to the back of a silver star and passes the star to a neighbor or friend. Then the next person makes a donation, adds their name, and passes the star to a different neighbor or friend.

Volunteers from In Your Shoes will pick up donations and deliver them to the food pantry where shelves will be restocked. The 25 Food Drive program will continue through the summer months and stars can be returned to the library August 15.

Summer is a particularly difficult time for those in need. Hunger does not take the summer off but food drives and donations to the Food Pantry slow down significantly when residents go on vacation and school is not in session. According to the Westborough Food Pantry, many new families signed up for services over the past year. The 25 Food Drive will help the food pantry assist the many Westborough residents who rely on their services.

For more information or to be involved with the 25 Food Drive program, contact Terri Gavin at 508-366-4451, [email protected], or Stephanie Leclair at [email protected]
