Shrewsbury – Hundreds of children and their parents gathered at the Shrewsbury Public Library June 27, for the fourth annual carnival to kick off summer reading. The event featured games, face painting, live music, prizes, films and snacks. Special guests “Finz,” the mascot for the Worcester Sharks, and “Flippo,” the balloon performer, mingled throughout the crowd. More than a dozen local authors spoke with the children and autographed books.
Each year, the library promotes summer reading for all ages. Students can sign up at the library and receive prizes for each book read. More information and public school summer reading lists can be found at the town website: shrewsbury-ma.gov.
