Worcester – UMass Medicine Cancer Walk is kicking off its 15th year with a breakfast and special program for team fundraisers and community members Wednesday, July 24, at 7:30 a.m., in the Aaron Lazare Research Building, UMass Medical School, 55 Lake Avenue North in Worcester.
As the largest fundraising event in Central Massachusetts, the Cancer Walk has raised over $7 million for the UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence and is looking to raise $500,000 at this year's event on September 29. All of the money raised by the Cancer Walk stays at the Center of Excellence making new treatments available to patients in Central Massachusetts.
Greg Bryne of the WSRS 96.1 FM morning talk show will be the host. Cancer Center leadership and researchers will share exciting news about leading-edge research and treatment breakthroughs being conducted at the Cancer Center.? Community and corporate leaders and cancer survivors will share how their participation in the Cancer Walk has changed their lives.
“We just found out Scott [my husband] is currently in remission due to the outstanding care he has received at UMass Memorial,” said Susan Anderson, team leader for Team Hunters for a Cure. “My gratitude to his doctors, nurses and scientists for the return of his good health is monumental.”
