Westborough – The team from the Westborough Little League and Softball were the champions of the 2012 Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) Trivia Bee. Represented by Rob Nagi, Laurie Nagi, and Jon McGrath, the winners were presented with the trophy July 21 at the Westborough Little League's Family Fun Day fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund.
The team will be back again this year at the sixth annual Trivia Bee Monday, Nov. 4, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Westborough. More than 600 people attended last year's event, and the WEF expects another record turnout.
The organizers are currently recruiting teams and planning for a fun-filled event that will challenge teams with questions about New England sports, popular culture, government, science, arts and literature, and Westborough history. In addition to the trivia competition, there will be auction items, raffles, food and music.
The Trivia Bee is the WEF's largest single fundraiser. Last year, the event raised more than $16,000 to support educational grants to teachers and administrators from across all six of Westborough's public schools. The grants allow teachers to develop creative programs in literature and language, the arts, technology, social studies, science and math.
The WEF is seeking team sponsors, who can use their own participants or request a team from the schools or community to represent them. Neighborhood groups, local businesses, and nonprofit community organizations are all welcome and encouraged to sponsor a team.
