Shrewsbury – U.S. Army Col. John P. Collins, of Shrewsbury, has been named interim commander of the Europe Regional Medical Command (ERMC). ?Collins has served as EMRC's chief of staff under Gen. Jeffrey B. Clark for the past two years.
Collins holds four graduate degrees and was designated a Distinguished Graduate from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Several of his many assignments include tours at SHAPE in Belgium, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) in Korea, as a Fellow with Prudential Healthcare in Florida, Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany, Commander of the Hospital at Fort Steward, Ga., and Theater Medical Commander of the 62nd Medical Brigade in Afghanistan.
Collins is married to Col. Nancy Hughes, an Army nurse. He is the son of Dr. John Collins of Shrewsbury and the brother of Patrick A. Collins, the superintendent of the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School.
