Westborough – Town Hall, located at 34 West Main St., is slated to undergo a major $7.3 million renovation starting in September. As a result, the town offices located there will temporarily move to various locations. According to a press release from town officials, the move will take place in three phases. Departments will be closed to the public on the day of their move.
Phase One will begin Friday, Sept. 6, with the relocation of the Historic Commission to the Westborough Public Library, 55 W. Main St. The commission will be closed Sept. 6; it will reopen Monday, Sept. 9, with temporary office hours Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In Phase Two, beginning Friday, Sept. 13, the Recreation Department will move to the Forbes Community Building, 9 E. Main St., and the Board of Health will move to Central One Federal Credit Union, 40 South St. These offices will be closed to the public Sept. 13and will reopen Monday, Sept. 16, in their temporary locations. While in its temporary location, the Board of Health hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
On Friday, Sept. 27, in Phase Three of the renovations, the Assessing Department, Town Clerk, Town Accountant and Treasurer/Collector will move to the Forbes Municipal Building, 45 W. Main St. The Selectmen, Town Manager, Town Counsel and MIS/GIS will move to the Department of Public Works Building, 131 Oak St. These offices will be closed to the public Sept. 27 and will reopen Monday, Sept. 30, in their temporary locations.

The improvements to the Town Hall, built in 1928, will include renovating the second and third floors to make them handicapped accessible. Other renovations include restoring the clock tower, installing an elevator, replacing the windows and heating components and removing mold and asbestos.
