Hudson – Phyllis (Christensen) Shortsleeves, 80, a lifelong resident of Hudson, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Brewster, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Albert F. “Shorty” Shortsleeves, who died in 2011.

Phyllis was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Duhamel) Christensen. She attended local schools and was a 1951 graduate of Hudson High School.

Phyllis took great pride in the raising of her family and the care of her home in Hudson most of her life, and also enjoyed quilting in her spare time. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband Albert, and they were members of the Hickory Hills Square Dance Club of Hudson and Bay Path Barn Square Dance Club of Boylston. She also looked forward to line dancing with a group of her local friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always looked forward to the many camping trips they shared.

She is survived by her two children, John A. Shortsleeves and his wife Kathleen of Fitchburg and Mary Ellen Tobin of Brewster. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Daniel Tobin Jr. and his wife Danielle of Marlborough, Kelley Shortsleeves of Maynard, and Emily Shortsleeves of Leominster; her two sisters, Barbara Tatarunas of Hudson and Carol Torborn of Berlin; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ruth Collins, Mary Elaine Kofos, and Roy Christensen Jr.

A funeral service and celebration of Phyllis” life will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m., in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
