Marlborough – The third-seeded Marlborough High School Panthers hosted the sixth-seeded Fitchburg High School Red Raiders Nov. ?1 at Kelleher Field for its 2013 Football Central Division 2 quarter-final.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Panthers got on the board first with an 11-yard run by William Cowdrey (Kevin Chilin kicked the point-after) for a 7-0 lead.
The Red Raiders evened it at 7-7 in the third quarter after Julio Gonzalez ran it in from 17 yards out and Gaston Pastorino kicked the point-after.
The Panthers exploded in the fourth quarter for three touchdowns on a 50-yard run by John Rumney (Chilin point-after), a 40-yard pass reception by Matt Thall (Chilin point-after), and a 40-yard interception and score by Cowdrey (Chilin point-after missed). The final score was Marlborough 27, Fitchburg 7.
The Panthers will face the winner of the St. John's High School and North Middlesex Regional High School matchup in the semi-final round.
