Shrewsbury – Albertina (Sobral) Martins, 90, of Shrewsbury, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at the home of her daughter, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Justin Joseph Martins, and the daughter of the late Ivo and Ermelinda (Santos) Sobral.
She was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford and Framingham prior to relocating to Shrewsbury 19 years ago.
She was an avid reader and loved to watch Two and a Half Men and The Golden Girls with her daughter Gale and her “companion” dog Jack. Her greatest joy in life was to be with her children and grandchildren.
She was the mother of Ralph Martins and his wife Monika of Miami, Florida; Justine Connolly and her husband Mark of Southborough; and Gale Martins of Shrewsbury, all of whom will greatly miss her. “Avo” will be remembered with enormous love and admiration by her grandchildren, Clifford and Nicholas Martins, Michele Madaris and her husband Cory, and Justin McGann and his girlfriend Christina Erickson. Her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors will think of her with fondness. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen McGann, and her brothers, Joaquim, Joseph, Antone, and Fernando Sobral.
Funeral and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Rand-Harper-Pickering Funeral Home in Westborough.
