Marlborough – Helen (Wagner) Coggins, 76, of Marlborough, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at Marlborough Hospital. She was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Roger P. Coggins, who died in 2000.

Helen was born and raised in Clinton, daughter of the late Willis and Leta (Hines) Wagner. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School. She had resided in Marlborough, where she raised her family and cared for her home, since the early 1960s.

She was employed as a secretary by the Town of Wayland for 23-plus years until her retirement in 2002.

Helen was an accomplished trumpet player for most of her life and enjoyed listening to music in her spare time. She was a devoted member of the Grace Baptist Church in Hudson and enjoyed many of the fellowship activities at the church, both as a volunteer and member of the community. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a woman of strong faith within her community.

She is survived by her children, Deacon Frederick Coggins and his wife Zita of Northbridge; Christine Cote and her husband Philip; William Coggins; David Coggins;and James Coggins, all of Marlborough. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carla Coggins, in 2012. She is also survived by her four sisters, Hazel DeLong of Shrewsbury, Ruth Wagner of Clinton, Diane Marden of Sterling, and Marilyn Tierney of Clinton; three brothers, Albert Wagner of Illinois, Robert Wagner of Maryland, and Philip Wagner of Clinton; her six grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley, Jesse, Felicia, Brianna and Mikayla Coggins; her great-granddaughter, Abigail Stanford; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Willie Wagner, and her sister, Gloria Harris.

A funeral service and celebration of Helen's life will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m., in the Grace Baptist Church, 353 River Rd., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Sunday, Nov. 17, from 2 – 5 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 353 River Rd., Hudson, MA 01749.
