Obit Jeannette AdamsWestborough – Jeannette A. Adams, 95, of Westborough, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Andrew J. Adams.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Taylor) Allen. She was educated in Worcester schools and was a 1940 graduate of Connecticut College for Women.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our matriarch, Jeannette “Jane” Adams, our Mom, Grandma and G”G”. Her great acts and contributions would not appear in history books, but in the hearts of those she touched. She knitted and sewed the family together and whether you were family, friend, or acquaintance, her bottomless well of optimism and good cheer made everyone feel welcome in her home. She was principled, upright but never self-righteous and always listened to other's opinions and adventures with great gusto. Her generosity in heart and spirit taught us all how to be the best we can be no matter what age. Jane felt very fortunate to have been married to the love of her life Andrew for 50 years. She persevered stoically for 22 years after her beloved husband's death making sure the family stayed connected any way possible.

We are thankful she was able to share her long life with us and will be forever grateful for the wonderful memories we have of her, whether it be sitting in the living room sharing stories of her life “back in the day” or at the kitchen table talking about current events and family matters. We will miss her with all of our hearts and only hope we can be half the person as she.

Jane is survived by her four children, Andrew B. Adams and his wife, Julie, of Bristol, N.H., Neale T. Adams and his wife, Deborah, of Mapleton, Maine, Evan W. Adams and his wife, Louise, of Fitchburg, Wis., and Nancy A. Willard and her husband, Albert, of Greenwood, Maine; a former daughter-in-law, Nancy N. Adams of N. Townsend; six grandchildren, Jennifer Adams, Derek Adams, Brandon Adams, Devon Adams, Cooper Willard and Anna Willard; and five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Marcus, Lydia, Maxwell and Riley. She was the sister of the late Virginia Allen and Lucian Allen.

A private family service was held Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home. Burial followed in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581 or to a charity of one's choice.
