Obit Doris WellenMarlborough – Doris (Brodeur) Wellen, 95, of Marlborough, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at her home. Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Phileas A. and Marie Louise (Champagne) Brodeur and the wife of the late Albert A. Wellen, who died in 1992.

Mrs. Wellen was a graduate of St. Anne's Academy and Marlborough Business College. She had been employed for many years at the former First National Bank of Marlborough. She retired in 1984, reaching the position of Assistant Vice President.

She was a charter member of the Greater Marlborough Business and Professional Women's Association, Inc. and Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer at the hospital gift shop since her retirement. She had also been an active member of the former St. Mary's Parish and Our Lady of the Assumption Guild.

She is survived by her son, Lieutenant Commander David P. Wellen, Director of Purchasing at Bethesda Naval Hospital, and his wife, Susan, of Middletown, Md.; her daughter, Michelle Wellen and her husband, Charles Robba, of Princeton; her brothers, Lieutenant Colonel Richard H. Brodeur of Sunnymeade, Cal. and J. Paul Brodeur of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her sister, Maureen McCann of Clinton; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Francis X. Brodeur, P. David Brodeur, Rita Lockwood, Arline Burke, Yvonne Boudreault, and Eleanor Mantino.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 9 – 10:30 a.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street in Marlborough.
