Coach: Richard Manning
What are your earliest soccer memories?
“I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old, and during my first practice, I kicked the ball in between the coach's legs for a goal. He was completely shocked.”
What was it like trying out for Assabet, and what were the first practices like?
“My first tryout and practices for soccer were scary at first. Coming from a small school, and going into a big school, it was nerve-racking, but once I took a shot, the keeper moved away from the ball, and complained that I had to move further back. That gave me confidence.”
Which of your coaches has particularly encouraged you towards success?
“Out of all the coaches I'se had, I's say Coach Manning has been the most supportive, but my old club soccer coach – Christian Battaglia of FC Puma – pushed me to my limits, and made me a stronger player.”
Which teammate do you have the closest relationship with?
“Out of all my teammates, I'se become closest with Marissa Gibson. We'se been together on the field since last year, and we'se had classes together as well. However, the strongest bond on the field would have to be with Christina Skavicus.”
Which single game has been the most special?
“The game that has been most special to me was playing Blackstone Valley [Regional Technical High School] for their homecoming game this year. I put my all into that game. We all did. It was an amazing game to play, and we tied 2 – 2.”
You'se only a sophomore, but have you given any consideration to playing soccer in college?
“Yes, I have thought about playing soccer in college, but I’m not sure if it's simply a fantasy.”
What other sports do you play, and which sport is your favorite to play/watch?
“I played basketball last year, and will probably play again junior year, but my body needed a break from my soccer injuries. I also take part in track and field, and am very interested in playing lacrosse too, but of course, my favorite sport to play is soccer. My favorite sport to watch is hockey though.”
Who are your favorite professional soccer players?
“My favorite pro soccer players are Abby Wambach and Hope Solo, both of Team USA.”
What is your favorite class in school?
“English is my favorite subject, but I also love my honors history class, coincidently taught by Coach Manning.”
