Westborough – The Westborough High School Rangers boys’ hockey team hosted the Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks for a Roy Conference game Jan. 27 at the NorthStar Youth Forum.
The first period was a 0-0 draw but in the second period, Algonquin's Brian Ward scored twice, first with an assist from Matt Tozeski and then again unassisted. Westborough's Jake Uhlman also scored unassisted to bring the Rangers within one but Ward scored his third (hat trick) goal at the end of the second period (assist by Matt Luttrell) to go up 3-1.
In the third period, Ward scored his fourth goal (assisted by Tozeski and Alex DiPadua) while the Rangers’ Brian Bernard scored (assists by Kevin Blackney and Scott Erickson) to keep Westborough in it.? However, the Tomahawks’ Ian Kosovsky (assist by Dylan Connelly) put the game away 5-2 in favor of the Tomahawks.
