Obit Leonard CoxShrewsbury – Leonard R. Cox, 91, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 in Worcester Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Worcester.

Leonard was born in Worcester, son of the late John Cox and May (Richards) Cox- Parker, and attended North High School in Worcester before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps to serve his country during World War II. He received the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement and courageous leadership.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 68 years, Shirley I. (Ryder) Cox; his loving children, Daniel L. Cox of Northborough, Robert A. Cox of Shrewsbury, Jane P. Cox of Framingham, and Kathleen M. Bianchi of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his two siblings, Ralph Cox and Marjorie Murdoch.

Leonard spent his working years as an HVAC contractor before retiring in 1988. A generous, fun-loving man, Lenny enjoyed watching sports, doing yard work, and being home surrounded by his family.

A private family gathering and memorial service was held for Leonard in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home.
