Shrewsbury Garden Club announces 2014 scholarship

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Garden Club recently announced a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Shrewsbury student to pursue studies in environment- or agriculture-related fields.

For nearly 25 years, the Shrewsbury Garden Club has been awarding annual college scholarships to students residing in the town. The organization has awarded nearly $40,000 in scholarships, helping to launch the careers of many students at colleges and universities throughout the country.

Scholarship applicants must be a high school senior or graduate; a Shrewsbury resident for a minimum of three years; and have been accepted or enrolled at a school of higher education in one of the following fields: agriculture, architectural landscaping, conservation, ecology, environmental studies, floral design, forestry, horticulture, or a closely related field.

Applications are available at www.shrewsburygardenclub.org? or may be obtained through school guidance offices. Students currently enrolled in a program are encouraged to apply.
