Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Hudson – Donald E. Desrocher, 87, a longtime resident of Hudson, died at his residence Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruby H. (Benway) Desrocher of Hudson.

Donald was born and raised in Marlborough, son of the late Edward and Mary (O”Malley) Desrocher. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1951.

He was employed as a truck driver for many years and later worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Co. and Holiday Tours until his retirement. He was also a firefighter in the Town of Hudson for 13-plus years from the early 1970s into the 1980s. He was a member of the Hudson American Legion, member of the Hudson Senior Center and member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

Donald had many interests and hobbies, but truly enjoyed his frequent trips on his motorcycle and his passion for classic automobiles. He always looked forward to the many trips and vacations he and Ruby shared together over the years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda MacDonald of Florida, and was predeceased by his two sons, Donald E. Desrocher Jr. and Henry Desrocher. He also leaves his niece, Colleen Welch, and he and Ruby's dear friend, Claire Feehan. He was the brother of the late Doris Collins.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 4, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday, March 3, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Hudson Senior Center, 29 Church St., Hudson, MA 01749.
