Obit Kathleen Quinn CopelandShrewsbury – Kathleen Quinn Copeland, 57, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Wednesday, March 5, 2014 surrounded by her family.

She leaves her husband, Randal Copeland; two daughters, Eileen (Billings) Roddy and her husband Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev. and Emily Copeland of Bowie, Md.; her parents, Jack and Ruth Quinn of Willseyville, N.Y.; three sisters, Linda (Dave) Weeks of Willseyville, N.Y., Karen (Terry) Reynolds of Raleigh, N.C., and Teresa (Andy) Morehouse of Lansing, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Kathleen was born in Johnson City, N.Y. and graduated from Candor High School in 1974. She earned her Nursing degree from SUNY Binghamton and worked for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and the American Cancer Society in Binghamton, N.Y.

She was dedicated to civic engagement. She volunteered for Shrewsbury schools, and served as a member of Town Meeting, the League of Women Voters, the Disability Commission, and the Master Plan Committee. She advocated open dialogue in town government with the creation of Ask The Manager on Shrewsbury Public Access television, serving as the program's coordinator and moderator for several years.

Kathleen was a lifelong learner who believed in hard work and personal growth, enjoying a variety of interests in music and literature. She was also a devoted fan of her beloved Red Sox.

Her funeral was held Monday, March 10 from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, with a funeral Mass in Saint Mary's Church of Shrewsbury and burial at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave., Waltham, MA 02451 to help rid the earth of this devastating disease.
