Hudson – Manuel C. Braga, 88, of Hudson, died at his home Saturday, March 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria Luiza (Correia) Braga of Hudson.

Manuel was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores of Portugal, son of the late Benardino and Maria G. (Chaves) Braga. He had resided in Hudson the past 36 years after emigrating from Portugal. He worked as a machine operator for many years locally until his retirement in 1996.

Manuel enjoyed tending to his yard and home in his spare time and always looked forward to spending time with his family. He was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his six children, Jose Maria Freitas of Hudson, Miguel Chaves Braga of Santa Maria, Antonio Alfredo Braga of Hudson, Ana Isabel Ponte of Hudson, Arsenio Martins Braga of Northborough, and Luis Filipe Braga of Hudson. He was predeceased by his two daughters, Lizette Keaney in 1997 and Gabriela Chaves in 2007. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his two sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, April 3, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, April 2, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
