Marlborough – Veteran building principal, school adjustment counselor, special education team facilitator and classroom teacher Wendy Stanley has been named the new principal of Francis J. Kane Elementary School.

Stanley, who currently is in her fourth year as principal of Haverhill's Bradford Elementary School, brings with her a history of raising standardized test scores, creating positive school culture, collaborating with and mentoring teachers toward improved instruction, implementing a bullying prevention curriculum, and partnering with her Parent-Teacher Organization to raise funds for school technology improvements.

Prior to her appointment as principal, Stanley worked as part of a school special education team, facilitating the individual education plan process and chairing team meetings. In her role as adjustment counselor, Stanley coordinated and conducted both individual and group counseling sessions for students to help them overcome issues that affected their educational experiences.

Stanley also brings with her more than 20 years as an elementary teacher, a criteria determined to be significant by Kane teachers and parents and the principal search committee, who provided input as to the most important characteristics and experiences they wanted in a candidate.

Pending completion of successful contract negotiations, Stanley will assume the post mid-summer. She will succeed Interim Principal Steve Silvestri.
