Obit Flag_USE THIS ONEMarlborough – Richard E. “Dick” Lizotte, 88, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Dorothy (Boland) Lizotte, to whom he was married for 61 years. He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Alphonse and Viola (Marcotte) Lizotte, and lived there all of his life.

Mr. Lizotte was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He took part in the D Day invasion in Normandy France and saw extensive fighting in the Philipines. After the war, he went to work as a custodian at Marlborough High School and worked there until his retirement. After his retirement, he and his wife spent many winters in Florida.

He, along with his wife, was a longtime member of the former St. Ann's Church in Marlborough and currently a member of Saint Bernadette's Church in Norhtborough. He was also a longtime member of the PT Boat Veterans Inc.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas Lizotte of Maine and James Lizotte and his wife Lila of Lakeville; one daughter, Nancy Harris and her husband Bruce of Marlborough; and four grandchildren, Bruce and Nicholas Harris and Matthew and Emma Lizotte.

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 24, at 10 a.m., in Saint Bernadette's Church in Northborough. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Marlborough.? Visiting hours at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com) will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 – 8 p.m.
