Marlborough – Marlborough High School (MHS) graduating seniors and their guests are looking forward to the after-prom “All-nighter” celebration – having fun in a safe, secure atmosphere – all made possible through the support of students, teachers, parents and the community. The event, in its 29th consecutive year, will be held again at the Wayside Racquet and Swim Club from 10 p.m. prom night, Friday, May 30, thru 5 a.m. the following day.

The alcohol- and drug-free evening will include music, dancing, food, games, and a raffle. It is free to all attendees.

Throughout the year, the All-nighter Committee plans fundraisers to support the event. The “Happy to Flock You!!” fundraiser, beginning in March, involved putting a flock of 20 plastic flamingos for $20 on a family's front lawn. The flock “landed” under the cover of darkness and then “flew away” within 48 hours.

“Honor a Teen with $20.14” is a special effort already in progress. You can honor your own student, or a neighbor, babysitter, Scout or athlete by sending a check for $20.14 in the name of the special student. They will be informed that you have honored them. Checks may be made payable to MHS All-nighter Committee and mailed to c/o Mary Ann Giroux, 8 Naugler Ave., Marlborough, MA 01752. Please note the name of the student in the subject line.

Participating in activities planned by the committee to help meet their financial goal is a way to support the program, according to Chair Eileen Bailey. She encouraged all to attend a Jenny Boutique sale, planned for Thursday, May 1, at 45 E. Main St. in Westborough, from 6 to 8 p.m. Items on sale include jewelry, scarves, purses and accessories.

There are many other ways to help the All-nighter Committee. An invitation is extended to all members of the community, especially to parents of underclassmen, to volunteer to help with decorations, coordinating food, setup, clean-up or chaperoning. Prizes for the raffle are also needed.

All financial donations made to the nonprofit organization are tax deductible. Checks may be made payable to MHS All-nighter Steering Committee, MHS, 431 Bolton St., Marlborough, MA 01752.
