Worcester- Bancroft School held its 32nd Annual Alumni Reunion and Awards April 12 at the Beechwood Hotel. The Bancroft Alumni Council, led by President Kerri Aleksiewicz Melley “90, honored four individuals with awards recognizing their achievements and service:
The Robert W. Stoddard Award for Outstanding Community Service went to Shrewsbury resident James W. Coghlin Sr., president of the Worcester-based Coghlin Companies. Coghlin founded the 15-40 Connection, which promotes cancer awareness among teens and young adults, and has made numerous significant charitable contributions throughout Central Massachusetts.
The Esther Forbes (1907) Award for Distinguished Professional Achievement was given to former Holden Police Chief George R. Sherrill, Bancroft Class of 1974, in recognition of his leadership in law enforcement, community policing, and school safety during 40 years of service with the Holden Police Department.
The Milton P. Higgins (1918) Award for Distinguished Service to Bancroft School honored Nicolina A. Puccio, head of Bancroft's Foreign Languages Department and a French teacher for 32 years.
Also honored at the Alumni Awards Dinner was Hallie Goldberg Johnston, Bancroft Class of 1994, who received the Young Alumni Achievement Award for her extraordinary career accomplishments in advertising and communications in the 20 years since she graduated.
