Northborough – The Studebakers Drivers Club Ocean Bay Chapter held its annual Spring Kickoff April 27 at the Northborough Historical Society.
Paul Derosier, a member of the Studebaker's Club Ocean Bay Chapter, which encompasses Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and himself the owner of four Studebakers, organized the rally. Derosier is also the current President of the Northborough Historical Society.
“The club is dedicated to preserving the old cars, the Studebakers. This is the first time that people bring their cars out for the season. It's our spring kickoff,” he said. “Everybody should drive Studebakers.”
The majority of those in attendance and members of the chapter are owners of Studebakers. The cars at the rally ranged from 60 to 80 years old and all of them were fully restored. That includes the car of Paul Desautels, a proud owner of a classic Studebaker.
“[You are] better off having one decent [Studebaker] that you can drive and use. It runs like a top,” he said of his vehicle that was in pristine condition.
The event concluded with refreshments an auction of classic Studebaker parts and memorabilia inside the Northborough Historical Society building.
