Chincoteague Island, Va. – Anne M. “Gram” Howland, 77, of Chincoteague Island, Va., formerly of Westborough, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. She was the wife of the late William P. Howland Sr.

Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Wilfrid “Buck” and Dorris (McCaffrey) Pelletier. She was educated in Westborough schools and graduated from Westborough High School in 1954. She also attended and graduated from Becker Junior College.

Anne was employed as a secretary psychologist; a medical secretary for Westborough Medical Group and most recently secretary at Westborough High School for 20 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, was the past Regent for the Daughters of Isabella, and former treasurer for Bay State Retirees Club. She also was an avid sports fan enjoying the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.

Anne is survived by one son, William P. Howland Jr. and his wife Patricia of Millbury; one daughter, Laura J. Joslyn of Mashpee; one sister, Kathleen M. Welsh and her husband David of Chincoteague Island; four grandchildren, William P. Howland III and his wife Troya, Amanda L. Howland, John J. Joslyn, and Mark S. Joslyn and his fiancé Brittany Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Rocco Howland and Dustin Joslyn; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, May, from 4 – 7 p.m., at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough.
