Grafton – A “Tasting Nite” fundraiser to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis's (MS) Greater New England Chapter will be held at 25 on the Common, the Grafton Inn's restaurant, Saturday, May 31, from 7-9 p.m. The event will be hosted by the inn's owners John and Laurie Pardee and their son, Adam. It is inspired, John said, by his brother Michael, who has had MS for many years.
The fundraiser will feature five distributors who will offer the opportunity for guests to sample new craft beers, spirits and wines. Attendees will also enjoy samples of many of the inn's various dishes.? Musical entertainment will be provided by Chas Kirchner on the piano. There will also be a silent auction and door prizes.
John noted that his family has been involved in raising funds for the MS organization since 1984. In the early years, they held auctions at the Westboro Country Club where he was a manager at the time. Since he and his wife bought the Grafton Inn several years ago, they have hosted events there.
This year, Adam will be participating in the Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway 2014, a 150 miles ride from Boston to Provincetown which will be held June 28-29.
“I's not sure how much we have raised over the last 20 years; it's been probably at least $10,000 each year,” John said. “We'se just really grateful to all of those who have come out and supported us in our efforts.
“We hope everyone will come this year as well,” he added. “It's going to be a great night of tasting new foods and drinks and having fun for a worthy cause.”
Tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 at the inn's 25 Grafton Common location and for $25 at the door. As this is an event serving alcohol, it is for those ages 21 and over; positive identification will be required.
