Obit Thomas E. WalkerWestborough – Thomas E. Walker, 85, of Westborough, formerly of Medfield, and originally of Tonawanda, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Miriam Boyd Hospice Residence in Wayland.

Tom was the son of the late Thomas E. Walker, Sr. and Freda L. (Bateman) of Tonawanda, N.Y. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Randolph) Walker and father of Deborah W. Boucher and her husband, Richard, of Westborough; David R. Walker of Franklin; Gregg E. Walker and his wife, Tammy, of Enumclaw, Wa.; and Douglas E. Walker of Santa Monica, Ca. He was the grandfather of Jessica Anne and Daniel Walker Boucher of Westborough and Levi Aaron Walker of Enumclaw, and the brother of Diane Walbesser of Waco, Texas.

Tom enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for two years, and attended a primary Electronics School at the Great Lakes Training Center in Illinois and secondary Electronics School at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. He then was assigned to the Naval Operating Base in Bermuda.

He attended Clarkson College of Technology at Potsdam, N.Y. where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He later earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from NYSU at Buffalo, N.Y. He worked for Sylvania and GTE in Buffalo before transferring to GTE's location in Needham. He worked for Sylvania/GTE for 37 years and had been a member of the Quarter Century Club since 1977.

Tom attended the UCC church in Medfield for 30 years and served on the Board of Trustees. He was presently a member of the Congregational Church of Westborough.

Tom enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and genealogy.

His funeral service will be held Monday, June 30, at 10 a.m., in the Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, June 29, from 2 – 5 p.m.
