Westborough – A year after it was named a finalist for top honors at Northeastern University's Center for Family Business annual awards ceremony, Mark's Moving & Storage walked away recently with a greater distinction: Family Business of the Year.
Among all nominated companies of similar size, Mark's Moving & Storage won the center's highest praise.
“This is an incredible honor not only for me, my wife and children, but the many employees of Mark's Moving who consider this company to be part of their family as well,” said Mark E. Silverman, president and CEO of Mark's Moving & Storage. “We are very fortunate to have the close staff that we do. This award is about recognizing the entire Mark's Moving family just as much as my personal one.”
Each year, the Northeastern University Center for Family Business recognizes family businesses in Massachusetts, based on size, with the Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards. Recipients of the awards are selected by a panel of independent judges based on the following criteria: business success, positive business and family linkages, multi-generational family involvement, contributions to the community and industry, and innovative business practices or strategies.
“When you look at family businesses you see the best of business,” said Ted Clark, director of the Northeastern University Center for Family Business. “This is a group with an impressive history of long-term success that deserves to be recognized for their achievements.”
