Shrewsbury – Hundreds of local residents and fans of local produce came out July 9 to celebrate the opening day of the Shrewsbury Farmers Market. From the moment it opened until it closed that evening, patrons perused the stalls in the market, located at Ski Ward, to purchase vegetables, fruits, baked goods, goat milk products, Alpaca products and honey.

The market's manager Mackenzie May said she was thrilled with the opening day turnout.

“It was such a success, we couldn's be happier,” she said. “People came out in droves and they were so excited about the variety offered. Most of the vendors even ended up selling out of their products!”

The Ski Ward location is “perfect,” she added.

“It's easy to access with lots of parking,” she noted. “And after coming to the market, people can go over to [Ski Ward] and go tubing or out to dinner.”

The Shrewsbury Farmers” Market will be open Wednesdays, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. through September 10. From September 17 to October 15, the market will be held Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 5:30 p.m. It is held in the parking lot of Ski Ward, 1000 Main St., Shrewsbury.
