Northborough – Shrewsbury National defeated West Boylston in the finals of the Northborough Invitational Baseball Tournament for 12-year-olds July 20, under the lights at Casey Field in Northborough. The final score was 9-1. Shrewsbury National scored first with a solo home run by Cade Nelson in the second inning, and never trailed in the game. Logan Peterson pitched a complete game for Shrewsbury National. West Boylston's lone run came on a home run by Adam Fuller in the fifth inning.
Eleven teams from area towns played in the tournament, which ran from July 13-20.? Shrewsbury and Northborough were represented by multiple teams. Southborough, Westborough, West Boylston, Auburn, Clinton and Sterling each sent a single team. The games of this tournament were the last games these player will play on the Little League fields, as next season they will move up to the full-size diamond.
The tournament was sponsored by the Northborough Baseball and Softball Association and organized by Tom Lamothe and Mike Hodge.
