Obit Sr. Liliane FontaineMarlborough – Sister Liliane Fontaine, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Liliane Marie, died at the age of 99 at Marie Esther Health Center Thursday, July 31, 2014. She was in the 80th year of vowed religious life.

She was the daughter of Fred E. and Eloise (Labossière) Fontaine of Lynn. She attended elementary school there and obtained her high school diploma from the former St. Anne Academy in Marlborough. She entered the novitiate of the Sister of St. Anne in 1932 and pronounced her religious vows in 1934.

She taught for 45 years, on both the elementary and high school levels, in schools staffed by the Congregation in Worcester, Holyoke, Turners Falls, North Adams, Marlborough, Watertown, and Lynn, and in Central Falls and Manville, Rhode Island. Before retiring, she was the librarían at Holy Name Central Catholic High School in Worcester. Upon retiring in 1991, she moved to St. Anne Convent in Marlborough.

Sister Liliane Marie is survived by her sisters, Sister Patricia Fontaine, S.S.A., of Marlborough, Mrs. Therese Harrington of San Diego, Ca., Mrs. Gabrielle Moalli of Peabody, Mrs. Mary Jane Carr and husband James of Hopedale, and Mrs. Phyllis Pentheny and husband George of? New Port Rickey, Fla., as well as nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of St. Anne.

Viewing hours will be Sunday, Aug. 3, from 2-4 p.m., at the St Anne convent at 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough, and will be followed by a prayer ritual. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m., in the convent chapel with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Marlborough. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home of Marlborough.
