Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting online fall registration for residents starting Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 8 a.m. at www.shrewsburyma.gov/parkrec.

The town is offering a variety of new kids programs this fall.

In the “Art of Story Time” children will be read an art-themed story each week and then create their own artwork based on the story. Classes are Thursdays from 10-11 a.m. for ages 4-5. “Artistic Animals” participants will create artwork using their favorite animals as inspiration using paint, chalk pastels and printmaking. Classes are Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for grades 1-4. Both classes will be offered at Gaston Art Studios starting the week of Sept. 15.

Another new offering includes “Born to Move” classes, incorporating imaginative exploration of movement to music. The class for ages 2-3 will lead children through simple moves that build body awareness and balance and is offered Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. The class for ages 4-5 develops their balance, weight transfer and concentration skills, while also leaning how to interpret music and move to a beat. It is offered Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m. Both classes are being offered at Shrewsbury Health and Racquet Club (SHARC) starting Sept. 24.

Co-ed adult volleyball will be held two nights a week during the fall session. Tuesdays are for upper level volleyball players that have played in competitive adult leagues, high school or college varsity programs. Thursdays are for recreational players looking to play at a fun level. Contact Gary Grindle at [email protected] with question about the volleyball program.
