Corridor Nine Chamber to host Applefest 5k

    Northborough – The Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 21st Applefest 5k, Saturday, Sept. 20. The race starts and finishes at the Marion E. Zeh Elementary School, 33 Howard St. The event traditionally attracts between 300 to 500 runners and walkers and is perfect for experienced runners as well as those just starting out.

    The cost is $25.00 if you pre-register before Friday, Sept. 12 and $27 after that date. Runners will receive a race t-shirt if registered by Sept. 12.

    “Corridor Nine is proud to be part of the town of Northborough's community celebration for the past 20 years with our 5k race,” Karen Chapman, the president of Corridor Nine, said. “Runners or walkers at all fitness levels are welcome to participate and will receive a bag filled with goodies from our local businesses.”

    Registration starts the day of the event at 8:30 a.m.?Refreshments will be served post-race. ?

    The local high school cross country teams in the region are invited to compete for a trophy that will be awarded to both the boys and girls teams that have the fastest times. First place men and women division winners will receive a prize, compliments of PR Running.

    PR Running and the Community Advocate are the event's presenting sponsors.

    “We are proud to be part of this community,” Rich Allen, the store's owner said. “We take great pride in helping people with their exercise goals, whether it is running, walking or going to the gym.”

    “This 5k is a natural extension of that,” he added. “Giving back within our community is highly important to us.”

    Runners and walkers may register online at the chamber's website, www.corridornine.org or by calling the chamber at 508-836-4444.
