Westborough – ActiveRx Westborough announced that Wendy Kelley, lead physical therapist at ActiveRx in Westborough, has been designated as a Geriatric Certified Specialist (GSC) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, an Alexandria, Va.-based organization designed to improve public health by enhancing clinical experience in physical therapy practice through the credentialing specialists in a number of specialty areas.

Kelley joins a select group of fewer than 1,600 physical therapy professionals throughout the country who have earned the prestigious GSC designation since its inception in 1989. She is one of fewer than 50 physical therapists in the state of Massachusetts to have achieved this advanced certification.

In order to qualify for the GSC designation, Kelley was required to demonstrate more than 10 years of experience in working with the senior population, and more than 2,000 hours of providing direct patient care before passing a grueling six-hour examination.

“We are exceedingly proud of Wendy and very happy for her,” according to a press release from ActiveRx Westborough.? “Being certified as a Geriatric Certified Specialist is a significant personal and professional achievement, and we are very proud of the fact that ActiveRx now employs one of the few GCS's in the entire state of Massachusetts. Wendy is the consummate professional who is dedicated to her profession of providing nothing but the highest quality of physical therapy services to our patients.”
