Obit Erika RozentalsNorthborough – Erika (Silins) Rozentals, 78, of Northborough, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 at Beaumont Rehabilitation in Northborough after a short illness. Her husband, Alfreds Rozentals, died in 2009.

She leaves her loving son, Alfreds R. Rozentals II, wife Donna, and her grandson Robert T. Rozentals of Northborough; her half-sister, Rasma McAllister, husband Raymond, and two nephews of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; her half-brother, Robert Ronis of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and her best friend and caregiver, Charlie Gonyea of Northborough from Holden.

Born in Riga, Latvia, she arrived in Sioux Falls, North Dakota as an immigrant in 1952; moved after to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she worked for the telephone company and two department stores; and gained her U.S. citizenship. She married in March 25, 1965 and moved to Fairfield, Conn., and then to Sterling, Ill. in 1971, and finally settled in Northborough in 1975.

She worked in the cafeteria at Algonquin Regional High School and as a nurse’s aide at Granger Nursing Home from 1978 to 1981. She then worked as a QC inspector for Honeywell (aka Loral Corp.) from 1981 to 1989. She needlepointed landscape portraits for sale from 1992 to 2008.

She enjoyed traveling to Booth Bay Harbor, Maine and Siesta Key in Sarasota, Fla., and traveling across the country with her best friend in the motor home.

Her memorial will be private.
