Westborough – The Benjamin Franklin Chapter of DeMolay, based in Grafton and Westborough, recently attended the installation of its member, Justin T. Cargill, as State Master Councilor of Rhode Island. He holds dual membership with Gaspee Chapter in Cranston, R.I.

DeMolay is an international nonprofit youth organization for young men ages 12 to 21, providing social, leadership and civic service skills to its members.

Cargill joined DeMolay in October 2008 and became master councilor in January 2011. In June 2011, he founded the Benjamin Franklin Chapter, became its master councilor in November, and helped it become the fastest charted chapter in Massachusetts DeMolay history.

Under his leadership, the chapter’s membership tripled from 9 to 27 members in just one year. After his year as master councilor, Cargill was elected to Massachusetts DeMolay’s state suite. He has served as state junior councilor, deputy state master councilor of Massachusetts DeMolay and the Region One cabinet member for DeMolay International.

Cargill was also recently selected as the 2014 Regional and International Scholarship Award winner in the annual Paul R. Kach Essay Competition held by DeMolay International.
