Hudson – Phyllis A. (Keirstead) Duplisea, 84, of Hudson, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare.
Phyllis was born and raised in Waltham, daughter of the late Clifford and Ola (Foster) Keirstead. She attended local schools and was a 1947 graduate of Waltham High School.
She moved to Hudson in 1962, and was a longtime teacher at the Saint Luke’s Parish Nursery School. She later worked for Acton Medical Associates in Acton until her retirement.
Phyllis was a dedicated advocate for the protection of wildlife habitats and their environment, and spent many years as an active member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hudson.
She is survived by her two sons, David A. Duplisea and his wife Michele of Hudson and Scott R. Duplisea and his wife Laura of Hudson; her two sisters, Edna Corrazzini of Uxbridge and Betty Connerney of Newton; and her three brothers, Frederick Keirstead of Waltham, Charles Keirstead of Quincy, and Ronald Keirstead of Marion, and was the sister of the late Edith Neal and Clifford, Robert, and Richard Keirstead. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Keith Duplisea, Kristina Duplisea, Marisa Duplisea, and Alexa Duplisea, all of Hudson, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church, 34 Felton St., Hudson. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5-8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
