Obit Thomas M. RempelakisMarlborough – Thomas M. “Tom” Rempelakis, 58, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann (Joyce) Rempelakis of Marlborough, whom he was married to for 29 years; his daughter, Lauren Rempelakis of Marlborough; and his golden retriever, Ronan of Marlborough.

He was born in Boston, the son of Mary (Sloan) Rempelakis and the late Emanuel Rempelakis, and lived in Marlborough for 26 years after moving there from Westborough.

A Bentley College graduate, Mr. Rempelakis was employed as a software engineering manager for the EMC Corporation for many years.

He loved history, but particularly WWII history. He was an avid fan of all the local professional sports teams. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends, as well as vacationing with them.

He also leaves his sister, Ann Horton and her husband Kevin of Hopkinton; his brother, Marc Rempelakis and his wife Caren of Plympton; his mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Elizabeth Joyce of Worcester; his brothers-in-law, Craig Joyce and his wife Cindy of Auburn, N.H. and Daniel Joyce of Sandown, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough. Burial will be held at a later date. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 5-8 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St. Marlborough.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
