Westborough – Health Care Staffing, a Care Solutions’ Company, is hosting a free 12- hour training for caregivers, “Caring for People with Alzheimer’s: A Habilitation Curriculum”. The course takes place over six consecutive weekly two-hour programs, held on Tuesdays, from 9-11 a.m., Oct. 14 to Nov. 18. (Oct. 14, 21, and 28 and Nov. 4, 11, and 18.)
The curriculum is based on the model of dementia care called Habilitation Therapy, developed by Paul Raia, Ph.D. and Joanne Koenig-Coste. It can help caregivers make better connections to loved ones with dementia, resulting in improved quality of life.
The class will be taught by Melissa Plourde, LSW, who is trained to teach this program through the Alzheimer’s Association.
Classes will be held at the Care Solutions’ office, 176 E. Main St., Westborough.
