Marlborough – The Marlboro Eagle Riders, members of the Fraternal Order of Marlboro Eagles #3565, recently rode around the community collecting food and personal items to send to members of the military serving abroad. They combined the items with other goods donated by Dollar Tree stores in Marlborough, Hudson and Westborough and the team, led by Dick Durkee, Tim Collins and Ray Devoe, packaged them for shipping at the Florence Street headquarters.
Steve Kerrigan, president of the Marlboro Eagles, was overwhelmed by the response of Eagles members and the community at large and their generous contributions. He commended the group for their dedication and for furthering the mission of the Eagles – “Promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.”
“I am proud to be president of this organization that does so much to not only support our troops but our community,” Kerrigan said. “We Eagles believe that serving our community and helping those in need is what it’s all about.”
Among other events held by the group is the annual Easter egg hunt. They sponsor several youth sports groups in the city and contribute to the museum pass program conducted by the local library. Membership in the Eagles and the auxiliary unit is welcome. For more information, visit marlboroeagles3565.com.
