Southborough – Vasilios “Bill” Vassilakis, 49, of Southborough, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.

Born in New York, N.Y., he was educated at John Glenn Elementary School in Seven Hills, Ohio and graduated from Normandy High School in Parma, Ohio. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and his MBA from Cleveland State.

Bill was formerly employed as a wealth advisor for Merrill Lynch. He was a member of Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church in Marlborough and had been a resident of Southborough since 2013, previously living in Yardley, Penn. He was an avid Ohio football fan.

He is survived by his five children, Alexa Vassilakis, Georgios “George” Vassilakis, Evangelos “Evan” Vassilakis, and Gianna Vassilakis, all of Westborough, and Daniel Fay, U.S.N., stationed in Japan; his mother and stepfather, Joanne and Marinos Hionis of Adventura, Fla.; and one sister, Irene Vassilakis of London. He was predeceased by his father, Georgios Vassilakis.

His funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m., in Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, corner of Cashman and Central streets, Marlborough. Burial will be private.
