Hudson – Philip F. Dempsey, 84, born Dec. 16, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, with his loving family. He was the dear husband of Eileen J. (McCarthy) Dempsey for 63 years.
He was the son of the late James A. Dempsey and Beatrice A. (Charpentier) Dempsey. He relocated from the Chicago area in 1969, and lived in Sudbury until 1992 prior to moving to Hudson.
He was the beloved father to Paul W. Dempsey and his wife Sara K. Sherry, Janice M. Dempsey and her husband Frank Dawicki, Lisa A. Dempsey, and Laura J. Cann and her husband Kevin; the grandfather of Malikkah A. Gamble and her husband James, Liam J. Dempsey and his wife Mary Kate, Patrick P. Dempsey, Ryan W. Dempsey, Taylor A. Scott, and Christopher S. Scott and his wife Francesca; the great-grandfather to Alanna P. Gamble, William J. Dempsey, and Lilliana Scott; a wonderful son-in-law to Nina J. McCarthy; and the brother-in-law to Robert W. McCarthy and wife Jeanie of Illinois.
Phillip was employed with Felters Co. of Millbury, and managed their Midwest sales organization. Avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Family and friends may attend calling hours Saturday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to noon, at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson, followed by a funeral service and celebration of his life. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
