Marlborough – Coaches and students took part in the groundbreaking for the renovation of the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School baseball and softball fields. The updates will include new dugouts, batting cages and bullpens for both fields. The backstops and fencing will also be replaced.

Assabet has hired Gale Associates as the designer for this project and Green Acres as the contractor performing the actual construction. This is phase one of a three-phase renovation project which will eventually include new tennis and basketball courts, as well as a new track and football field.

“This has been a long time coming, and we are excited to finally get under way with the needed improvements to our athletic facilities, said Kristopher G. Luoto, director of business operations. “Sports are a big thing here at Assabet, with over a third of the students participating in some way. We encourage getting involved in an activity or athletics as one more way to become part of what we call the Assabet Family.”
