Southborough – Joseph E. Kearns, 78, of Southborough, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Judith E. (White) Kearns; two sons, Douglas J. Kearns and his wife Kimberlee of Bedford, N.H. and Jeffrey Kearns and his wife Lauren of North Richland Hills, Texas.; four grandchildren, Jack, Mackenzie, Zachary, and David Kearns; two brothers, Lawrence Kearns and his wife Linda of Plymouth and Robert Kearns and his wife Maureen of Concord, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Edward J. Kearns, and a sister, Janet Savage.
He was born in Boston, son of Joseph and Vera (Crahan) Kearns. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1954 and from Northeastern University in 1959 with a BSEE in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Southborough in 1969.
Joe was an electrical engineer for Raytheon Corporation for 36 before retiring as a consulting scientist in 1999.
He enjoyed traveling, especially his many trips to Florida with Judy. He was also an avid skier and golfer.
Joe’s funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., in Saint Anne Church, 20 Boston Rd. (Route 30), Southborough. Burial will follow in Southborough Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m., in Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. (Route 30), Southborough.
