Touchstone Furniture seeking donations, volunteers

Marlborough – Touchstone Furniture Depot, a Marlborough-based charity that distributes donated furnishings to local residents in need is seeking donations and volunteers to help at the 66 Mechanic St. location.

Sue Waudby, volunteer manager for the program, is stressing the need for sofas, kitchen tables and chairs, tall dressers, lamps, bath towels, blankets and comforters.

“We do ask that furniture be clean (no tears, stains) and functioning. We want this to be an uplifting experience for the people we are trying to help,” she said.

Furniture Depot is open Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Anyone wishing to volunteer or donate may stop at the store during those hours or call 508-485-2080 for items to be picked up. Branch Yules, managing partner of Touchstone Apartments and owner of the Frye Building where the store is located, is manager of the operation, assisted by his executive assistant Fatima Garrity.

Agencies and faith-based groups may refer their clients by using referral forms that are available at Touchstone.
