Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys and girls soccer teams each won their Central Division 1 quarterfinal matchups Nov. 5, and will advance to the next round of the playoffs.

The Tomahawk girls defeated the fifth-seed Tantasqua Regional High School Warriors 3-2 in the first game of the evening. Freshman Sydney Carney scored twice in the first half, with freshman Erin O’Reilly scoring the other goal. They will now face number-one seed Wachusett Saturday, Nov. 8.

The top-seeded boys’ team easily defeated ninth-seed Hudson by a 3-0 score in the evening’s second game. Dominic Cianci scored just 1:01 into the match, his first of two goals on the night, both of which were assisted by Tyler Morin. Max Michauld scored the Tomahawks’ other goal.

The Tomahawks will now face the number four seed Westborough Rangers in the semifinals.
