Marlborough – George E. “Mickey” Blanchette, 93, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Enid (Blankhorn) Blanchette, who died in 1995.

He was born in Marlborough, the son of the late Arthur and Frances (Griffin) Blanchette, and lived there most of his life.

Mr. Blanchette worked as a heating system repairman for the former Blanchette Oil Company and later went on to work as a custodian for the City of Marlborough in the public schools. He was a member of the former St. Ann’s Parish in Marlborough.

His survived by two daughters, Gail Downey and her husband Skeets of Stow and Betty Burnham of Marlborough; two grandchildren, Dana and Rob; two great-grandchildren, Erika and Jake; and a longtime dear friend, Frances Brescia of Marlborough. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Burnham, and three brothers and one sister.

His funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St. Burial will follow in Pleasant Street Cemetery in Berlin. Visiting hours will be held Monday, Nov. 10, from 9-10:30 a.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home (www.shortfuneral.com), 95 West Main St., Marlborough.
