Hudson – Carl W. Hoffmann, 94, a longtime resident of Hudson, died peacefully at home with family Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014. His beloved wife, Gisela, passed in April 1996.

He was born in Haindorf, Bohemia (present day Czech Repulic) in 1920, spent his childhood in Loxton, Australia, and lived in several European countries during his early life. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 where he spent the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his three daughters, Christine Stanmyer of Oxford, Rosemarie Yorston of Hudson, and Irmgard Forsyth of Leominster; and two nephews, Christopher Hoffmann of Connecticut and Peter Hoffmann of Canada. He had two younger brothers, Gerhard Hoffman, currently residing in Wallingford, Conn., and the late Heinz Hoffmann. He also leaves behind seven loving grandchildren who will miss him greatly, as well as many relatives living in Austria.

He was employed for many years and retired from GenRad in Bolton. During his retirement, he worked at Hudson National Bank as a courier.

He enjoyed travelling and gardening. He was an avid reader and storyteller who took pleasure in going through old photos with family and relating his experiences in Europe and Australia.

Family and friends may attend calling hours Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a service and celebration of Carl’s life in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson. Burial services will immediately follow in Forestvale Cemetery of Hudson.
