Over $176,000 raised at Boys & Girls club’s annual gala

Region – The annual Bids for Kids Auction & Gala, held Oct. 30 at the Sheraton Framingham to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest, raised a record $176,000. The event was emceed by Paul Burton of WBZ-TV.

Guests, sponsors, and honorees attended and participated in an extensive silent auction and raffle, as well as the Fund a Need portion of the evening, helping to raise monies to benefit the quality out-of-school programs offered by the organization.

“I want to thank all of our outstanding sponsors and supporters who helped make this year’s gala a tremendous success,” said Fran Hurley, president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest. “The evening’s theme was: Clubopoly – and thanks to our great supporters, we are able to provide the opportunity for a strong future to over 750 kids each day in the MetroWest community.”

The Club also honored the 2014 Partners for Youth for their outstanding commitment to the organization: Middlesex Savings Bank and Mathworks and Gayle and Ken Vonasek, recipients of the 2014 Michael C. Sullivan Memorial Award.

Next year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest’s 2014 Bids for Kids Auction & Gala is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015. The Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest serves over 3,500 children and youth each year with a low membership fee of only $25 per child, which makes it one of the largest Boys & Girls Club organizations in Massachusetts. 2014 marks its 70th year of providing quality out-of-school programming for the children and youth of greater Marlborough, Hudson and Framingham.
