Shrewsbury – For the last four years, Matt Beaton has served as state representative for the 11th Worcester District, representing Shrewsbury and two precincts in Westborough. Although he recently won re-election in an uncontested race earlier this month, he will not be serving a third term. Instead, at the behest of Gov.-elect Charlie Baker, Beaton will be serving as the state’s secretary of energy and environmental affairs.
Beaton has a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in energy and environmental analysis from Boston University. He is the co-owner of Beaton Kane Construction, a full-service construction and weatherization/energy efficiency company.
